We got to hear a great backstory of Boyd and the IAOMT. When Boyd first published his research linking mercury to Alzheimer’s disease he had no idea that dental amalgam consisted of 50% elemental mercury. The IAOMT invited him to discuss his paper and at the end of his presentation they informed him of mercury in amalgams. He thought they were crazy cause he thought the FDA and ADA would never allow this. The IAOMT measured the amount of mercury coming off the amalgams in Boyd’s mouth. The levels were so high, Boyd thought they had rigged the measuring instrument.
There were so many interesting presentations regarding mercury. Dr Narasimham Parinandi, a lipid biochemist and vascular biologist who studies cell biology, presented information regarding the protection from mercury toxicity by a product called NBMI, a powerful antioxidant and chelator.
